New England Metal Systems and Drexel Metals won the Metal Roofing Alliance’s Best Metal Roofing Project competition this quarter for a beautiful and complex project completed on a striking New England home.
PORTLAND, Ore.—The Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) has selected New England Metal Systems and Drexel Metals as the winners of its Best Residential Metal Roofing Project competition for the second quarter of 2020.
The winning project features the installation of a new metal roof on a 1992 contemporary craftsman home located in New Hampshire. The owners chose metal roofing not only for its long-lasting durability, but to highlight the home’s stylish architecture and unique design elements. The new roof also will help better protect the home in New England’s cold winters where heavy snow and ice are common for many decades to come. Installed over the home’s original asphalt roof, the owners selected a 24-gage galvalume snap lock standing seam metal roof, manufactured by MRA member Drexel Metals. Even with the home’s round roof areas, curved facia and custom pie shaped panels, it took the installer New England Metal Systems just under a week to complete the job.
“Our family business has specialized in standing seam metal roofing for over 20 years, and on my initial consultation with this homeowner, I knew this was a project I wanted to do,” said Chris Leighton, owner operator of New England Metal Systems. “I was excited and inspired by the complexity and challenge. I love the end result and am proud to have this project recognized by the Metal Roofing Alliance.”
With the end of the second quarter’s competition, the search is now on for next quarter’s Best Residential Metal Roofing project. Open to U.S. and Canada contractors, installers and manufacturers, MRA officials will select one outstanding metal roofing project based on project appearance, performance and originality/use of materials. Interested participants may upload their project photo along with a 200-word or less description for why their metal roofing project is worthy of top honors online at metalroofing.com. Next quarter’s winner will be announced in September, and only residential metal roofing projects in the U.S. and Canada will be considered.
