Executive director Ramey credits Bus for fostering MRA’s “strong trajectory of success”
ALLENTOWN, Pa.—Dick Bus, president of the Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) board of directors and member of the organization’s executive committee, is stepping down from his leadership role on the MRA board after 25 years of service to the nonprofit organization.
Bus will remain an active MRA member and continues in his leadership role at ATAS International, where he has served as president for the past 28 years. Bus also is the vice president of BRIGHTSMITH Coaters in Morrisville, PA and Trenton, NJ, a sister company to ATAS, which coil coats and post paints metal for ATAS, along with other customers.
During Bus’s decades-long tenure at MRA and as one of its founding members, Bus has played a major role in the growth of the U.S. and Canadian residential metal roofing industry, working to increase awareness, education and demand among homeowners. His deep experience and expertise in the industry also includes serving as past chair of the Metal Construction Association (MCA). Additionally, Bus has served on the boards of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), the Manufacturers Resource Center in Allentown, and the Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown.
Bus has received numerous industry accolades and remains strongly committed in his support of related trade and industry associations and community causes. He was inducted into the Metal Roofing Hall of Fame in 2013 and in 2017, he received the MCA Triumph Award for Industry Champion of the Year. Most recently, Bus was named as one of the “Power 100” list by the Lehigh Valley Business Journal, honoring local leaders who have shaped the community and influenced quality of life in the region.
“Dick has been steadfast in his service to MRA, the industry and the community, and we are forever grateful for his amazing leadership, expertise and dedication. He is a big reason why MRA has enjoyed the success we’ve had in our role to drive awareness and growth for the overall residential metal roofing market,” said Renee Ramey, MRA executive director.
ATAS International will continue to keep an active role in support of the MRA through Bus’s son, Mark Bus, who recently joined the MRA board. Todd Miller, president of Isaiah Industries, will step into the role of president on the MRA board, effective immediately. MRA plans to announce other changes to its board of directors executive committee later this month.
