Is 28 gauge normal for a steel panel roof?
Which finish lasts longer, painted or silver
galvalume?
The interior of my house has a cathedral, tongue and groove ceiling. What precautions, consideration or advice do you have regarding a steel panel roof over this? Are there any special considerations when installing a "cricket" or "saddle" between a steel roof and a wood paneled chimney? Are aluminum gutters OK with a steel roof and should gutter revision/repair happen before or after a new steel roof is installed?

Gage has a lessor function than design of the panel. There are certain minimums that you should look for in finishes. For bare it should be AZ 50-55 Galvalume. For paint it should be a SMP or PVDF based paint system with a paint warranty. For instalation there are certain requirements in the building code for ventilation, wind and rain etc.
Best choose a product and contact the manufacturer for their recommendations and ask to see their product approval which will answer all your questions.
