Hi. I have a nice wood shop that has completely flat roof. It has leaked for a few years and we are having to replace some of the joice, and then re cover with 1/2" plywood. The previous roof was tar paper, tar and pea gravel and I don't want to do that again. The second story of our home looks out over this roof so I would like it to be attractive. I like the way vertical seam metal roofs look and hope one might work in my aplication. Also, I am hoping it might not be too expensive. Is this too much to ask of a metal roof? What do you folks suggest?

There are standing seam metal roofs which can work on roofs as low pitched as 1/4" in 12". This requires what is called a "field-seamed" or "mechanically-seamed" or "field lock" type of panel though meaning the pans are fastened to the roof and then crimped using a special seaming machine.
You will need an experienced commercial metal roofing contractor for this type of work.

OK... So, when searching for a qualified metal roofing contractor in my area, (which is Ventura California), what or how do I look for the right guy? Yellow pages, or maybe I find the right roof material manufacturer and they will know of a qualified installer? What Manufacturing companys would make a metal roofing system that would be good for my very very flat roof?

We live in south Florida and would need to replace our patio flat roof and would like to use metal/copper. The roof was destroyed in the hurricane and we need to rebuild part of it. Can you recommend a source of metal roofing materials and a contractor in the Fort Lauderdale area. Thanks.

I do not know of anyone with particular copper / flat expertise in your area but have you used the Find A Contractor section of this site to see who may be in your area?
