I am considering installing a standing seam type of metal roof on a home that faces the intercoastal waterway in Florida. Obviously, the home will be exposed to salt air and, during wind storms, will be exposed to sea water.
What is your experience with fading, chalking and rusting of this type of roof under these conditions? Is there an advantage to either painted or clearcoated galvalume in this case? Does any particular manufacturer's warranty provide for salt contditions better than others?
Thanks.

I do not know specifics on every manufacturer's warranty. I would suggest finding a few products you like from an aesthetics standpoint (or based on other specific benefits) and then check on warranty specifics.
I will say this, to the best of my knowledge, aluminum and copper products do not carry exclusions for salt environments.
As far as coatings ... there are numerous types of coatings and finishes available. The Kynar 500 / Hylar 5000 coatings are the only ones carrying fade and chalk warranties.
I hope this helps some.
