Are there any other factors to consider between a non-painted galvalume standing seam roof and painted (Kynar 500 / Hylar 5000) besides the obvious difference in look?
The price difference is not an issue and we don't have any regulations that affect the roof we select.
- Energy cost difference?
- We have a lot of oak trees that overhang the roof and drop pollen, will that damage either roof over time (stain)?
- Will the colored roof fade, could it fade inconsistently so it looks bad?
- Would hail dings show up more in a dark colored roof?
- Anything else?
Thanks,

Choose a metal roof that has been tested to a class 4 UL 2218 hail test and you will qualify for insurance rebates. Some trees will stain anything either bare or painted. I believe a painted will hide it better. Remeber that you wash your car once a month to keep it looking good so consider the same on your roof. This can be as simmple as a hose applied wash from the ground once a year.
If you are worried about fade buy a MCA certified paint system which means it has ceramic pigments and resists fade. Again choose an energy star rated roof for energy savings.
