I am wanting to add a porch with a metal roof extending from the existing asphault shingle roof. How is the metal roof joined to the shingle roof as the metal roof is not flat like shingles so can't go under them? Can this be done? The slope on existing roof is approx. 6/12 and the porch roof will be approx. 3/12.
Thank you very much.

You will need a transition flashing of flat steel formed to the angle and it will slide up under the existing shingles and over the new metal. Use a profile closure strip to seal the gap. Also best to use a peall and stich underlayment on the porch roof first.
