IS THERE A CHART OR FORMULA TO FIGURE THE ANGLES WHEN DIFFERENT ROOF PITCHES INTERSECT? WE HAVE STARTED TO DO A LOT MORE HIGH END SHINGLE JOBS AND NEED TO FIGURE THESE ANGLES.

I do not see Allan's answer as a cop-out but rather as reality. As soon as you rely on computations and not real measurements, it will come back to bite you.
That said, I do not know of where this exists, especially not for different pitches that join each other, etc.
The following website has a lot of things but I do not think it has what you are seeking: http://www.roofingchildsplay.com/calculators/roof_pitch_to_degrees_calculator.php
Some of the more advanced construction calculators may offer this as a feature. You may want to look into the wide range of calculators available through Calculated Industries.
I hope this helps.

There is a book usually found in engineers bookstores called "the roof framers bible" written by Barry Mussel. Barry is in some high up position for John Wieland Homes of Atlanta. I have worked with Barry in the past and found Him to be a true wizard when it comes to roof angles. This book allows a competent framer to pre-cut roof rafters for any combination of pitches before the house is even framed! The book also has tables to assist one in determining valley angles for decking which would also work on valley and hip cuts for metal surfaces. I have a copy at My shop and cherish it. If You have trouble finding a copy I can get in touch with Barry. I can be reached at - [email protected] - But you cannot forget that You are always at the mercy of the framer who preceded you !
