There are ways to retrofit a metal roof over an old one but on a residential job like this, I would remove the old roof.

Our metal roof is about 6 years old and we have always had leaking problems. When it was installed the roofer did not install any underlayment or water barrier! So it is no wonder it leaks. So my question is can another metal roof be installed over the old metal roof or should I just start over and remove the old and install a new roof with the proper sealer and underlayment. Thanks.
