I have an exposed fastener metal roof that is showing heavy oxidation and has been leaking in many places. Since I'm in southern Florida and tired of replacing screws and washers it doesn't seem this type of roof is well suited for this climate.
My question is can I put a standing seam over the existing exposed fastener without having to tear up the existing metal? I have sprayed foam on the underside of the existing roof and would like to preserve it.
Thanks in advance.

This is probably feasible by installing battens over the current roof.
