I just purchased a metal roof and the job was completed 3 weeks ago. With winter coming on, I am curious as to whether or not I will see an improvement in my winter heating costs? Also, is metal roofing considered an 'energy saving benefit', and eligible for some kind of tax credit?
Thank you.

There used to be a federal tax credit related to summer energy savings but it expired the end of 2013. You may want to check your local utility company to see if they have any incentives.
In most cases, metal roofing does not have an effect on winter efficiency.

Summertime efficiency (depending on the color), big time. Savings can be huge depending on the region, exposure, orientation, and pitch of the roof.
Winter time, not so much.
