We had a metal roof installed but it leaks back over the drip edge when snow is melting. The roof panel is short of the drip edge by about 1.5". What is the proper overhang over the drip edge?

Most applications would have it flush with the drip edge.

That is incorrect. At minimum, the panel should be flush with the edge of the roof/drip edge.
