We are having a shed roof attached to the back of our house that is approximately 30x16. We want to have vinyl ceiling underneath. Does this vinyl need to be mostly ventilated pieces or can it be mostly solid with the ventilated pieces everyday 4 or 5 feet? The installer says it needs to be mostly ventilated in order to allow adequate airflow.

Are you able to have any exhaust vent at the top of the shed roof? If not, then I would not allow much air into the chamber.
