Do you recall whether there was a protective strippable film on the panels or metal? That looks like film that was "stuck" and someone was struggling with getting it to pull off so they just left it there.

Last fall I had a new standing seam metal roof put on my cape in New Hampshire. A couple days ago I noticed a spot on the metal that I hadn't noticed before. This section of the roof faces a yard that I am not in often, and I think the sun was just right so that I could see it. Today I had someone go up and take a look and he said it appears to be some type of adhesive. We just got through Winter here and no one has been on the roof since Fall when it was installed. I emailed the roofing contractor and he said he doesn't know what it is and it wasn't there before (or no one noticed it) so he basically seems like he is unwilling to help me. I have two questions...is adhesive used when installing a metal roof? If it is adhesive can it be safely removed without compromising the paint on the roof? Honestly I am just trying to figure out what needs to be done, if anything, in order to protect my investment. Thanks for any help you can give. roof.jpg

I just asked the contractor, and he said yes there was a protective film on the steel which was peeled off before installation. I will see if I can get someone up there to investigate to see if it can be peeled off. Thanks very much for your input.
