Metal is fantastic for shielding purposes. Just ask anyone that has put a metal roof on their home and tries to get a cell phone signal. I have neither tested or used the EMF underlayments. I suspect they are effective, but there are a great many other benefits to metal roofing here.
Sounds like cell phone signal reception is a downside of metal roofing. Probably the roof also reflects the cell signals, leading to multipath reception.
I'm looking to replace by asphalt shingles roof with another medium that would also provide a benefit of shielding my house from EMF/RF radiation. Does anything have any info on effectiveness of metal roof in this regard? I'm trying to decide if the added cost of metal roof is worth it or if I should stick with cheaper asphalt shingles and add a [probably much cheaper] EMF shielding underlayment.
If someone here has any experience with EMF-shielding roofing/underlayment materials, please do share.
Thank you.
We can use metal in rooftops because it is pre-fabricated or can make it by fabrication and can be customized on the basis of our choices.
