Eave closure strips are pretty uncommon but could probably be added if desired. The straight lines of metal roofs can accentuate dips in the roof but right off hand I can't imagine anything that would cause dips from a metal roof being installed. Have you spoken with your contractor about these concerns?
Because I do not know what profile of metal roof you have had installed, nor whether you're talking about eave or ridge closures, I do not feel I can address your questions. I am sorry. If you have a way to send photos of your roof and would like to do so, my email is todd@asktoddmiller.com
I will know more once I see the photos but right off hand, I'd probably not do that. The spray can stuff really isn't exterior grade and could also cause problems with expansion or contraction down the road. I'd rather see you use a neoprene based closure strip.
I just had a new metal roof out on over shingles. I have noticed that they did not use closure strips. What can be done to exclude bugs etc from the gaps on the edges of the roof? Additionally there is a dip in the back side of the roof. What could cause this? The original roof was in good working order and straight previous to the metal installation.
I’m currently waiting on his response to why there is a dip. Will eave enclosures effect the venting? We will have front and rear soffits, and there is a ridge vent. And are they expensive to add?
Also, is it a fairly normal thing to not add closure strips or is that something I should reasonably expect to have been done?
Ok, I will send some pictures. Is it an option to spray foam where the closure strips would have been?
Roof repair is not typically an easy task and should be handled by a professional contractor. However, if you are determined to repair your roof yourself, there are a few things you can do to make the job easier. First, make sure you have the right tools and materials for the job. This will vary depending on the type of roof you have and the extent of the damage, but at a minimum you will need a ladder, a roofing hammer, nails, shingles, and roofing cement. You should also make sure you have a helper to assist you with the repair and to keep you safe while working on the roof. Finally, it is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the basic steps involved in roof repair before you begin, so that you know what to expect and can plan your work accordingly.
