I would suggest contacting your local building department regarding code requirements where you live.
Hello! I have a traditional 25 year old standing seam metal roof. No ridge cap, just seamed. I recently sustained damage to the rear section only, and insurance wants to replace just the damaged elevation. I've been told that the felt and underlayment has to traverse the ridge in order to remain water tight, which would mean the front panels would have to be lifted, and of course the new panels would have to be re-seamed at the peak to the existing original panels. Is this going to be problematic? Is there any published literature I can point to related to proper installation/repair that addresses this? Thank you!
